Our Farm Chronicle
Tradition since the 16th Century
The heritage farm is a place where familial tradition and agricultural heritage blend together harmoniously. Since the year 1652, the heritage farm has been owned by the Sinnegger family and has been proudly passed down from generation to generation since then. Each generation has made its own contribution to this special place, and today we are pleased to welcome you to our beautiful piece of earth.
16th Century
In the 16th century, the farmhouse was built in Radstadt. On the ground floor there was a parlor, the kitchen, 2 sleeping places and a workshop, as well as a spacious entrance hall with wide storage areas. The farm was not built with a basement, but it had 4 large rooms on the first floor. The attic was unused.
1950s
In the 1950s, people considered building a new residential house. However, financing this idea at that time was unimaginable, so they decided to just renovate the old house. The right half of the house was underpinned and newly bricked up. Large stones that were already in the masonry at that time still exist in part today. The workshop was converted into a spacious kitchen and a pantry, colloquially called 'Speis'. Additionally, the first bathroom was built.
1960s
In the sixties, 3 small rooms were expanded into guest rooms. From then on, 5 guests could be accommodated. Even then, they were provided with a delicious breakfast in the morning. Moreover, guests at that time already had access to hot and cold running water, stove heating, and a toilet on the ground floor at their disposal. The foundation for private room rental was laid. In 1966, the family renovated the roof truss.
1970s
In 1970, a central heating system was installed and they began gradually renovating every window, every door, and every wall. In 1971, the attic was developed into one triple room and two double rooms, along with a communal shower and a communal toilet. Thanks to these improvements, the first winter guests enjoyed their farm holiday in Radstadt.
The 1980s
1979 began the construction of a new house, designed to accommodate 8 holiday apartments and, looking forward to retirement provision, a small private apartment. By 1980, the holiday apartments were already up for rent. On August 3, 1981, barely a year after the major construction, the farming family was struck by a severe stroke of fate: A flood inundated the entire farm, including the new farmhouse. The damage was enormous, but fortunately, it was covered by insurance.
1992
In 1992, a new renovation of the house was started. The demands of the vacation guests increased, and the building was remodeled for the third time. The attic was raised. 2 additional holiday apartments – spacious and in line with the latest standards – were created. Ceilings were raised, doors renewed, and electrical wiring was installed and upgraded,... Nevertheless, the typical style of the old "Pongauer Bauernhaus" was optimally preserved.
1997-2000
In 1997, the family specialized in „Urlaub auf dem Baby- und Kinderbauernhof“ (vacations on the baby and children's farm). A good decision that they do not regret to this day. In the year 2000, the hereditary farm was once again rebuilt, improved, and modernized. In 2003, the transfer of Obersulzberggut from Johann and Herta Sinnegger to Hannes and Doris Sinnegger followed.
2005
In the spring of 2005 the farmhouse was once again expanded and remodeled under the motto „Preserve the old, venture the new“ . The current „Erbhofstube“ and 2 new, comfortable family holiday apartments were created. It was particularly important to the Sinnegger family to create a harmonious connection between the new extension and the existing heritage farm, which they succeeded in doing ideally.
2008-2015
2008 followed a very special highlight: In order to improve the offerings for the summer guests at Obersulzberggut Erbhof, a covered, heated outdoor pool was built in the spring. Since then, continuous innovations have been made at the farm.
2021-2024
In 2021, the major renovation of the heritage farm, as well as the renovation of the reception, kitchen, entrance, and redesign of the terrace took place. In 2023, the entire second floor of the Obersulzberggut was renovated, and all apartments received modern new box spring beds. Our outdoor area was additionally equipped with a new fire pit. In 2024, our farmhouse was fitted with five new bathrooms and the kitchens were renewed. Additionally, our new playground was opened.
